Ubuntu - Inside Out

Since the dawn of home computing, 2 companies have ruled the operating system market. Microsoft, founded on the 4th April 1975, and Apple founded on the 1st April 1976.
Operating systems are the foundation of any computer, allowing the users master task simply. With the customisation option Microsoft leads, yet Apple leads with the branding and access to certain software's.

What is Ubuntu then?
Ubuntu is a Linux based operating system open to all with an internet connection for free, otherwise known as open source.
Ubuntu was first released on the 20th October 2004, and since then new versions of the OS (operating system) have been released every six months. The OS is composed of many different software packages, many of which are distributed under a free software license. This means users are able to copy, change and develop the software themselves.
All sounds well right? There are a few requirements to run Ubuntu (recommended)  1 GHz Pentium 4 with at least 1 gigabyte of ram and 5 gigabytes of hard drive space. For computers with less power then recommended there are other Ubuntu distributions such as Lubuntu and Xubuntu.

Who Makes Ubuntu?
Thousands of programmers across the globe give up their time, free of charge, helping to create the best open source operating system available today. This is how the software is free, although on the download page there are options of which you can choose to pay via PayPal however much you feel the distribution is worth, but if you dont want to pay you dont have to.

Ubuntu to have other services which are all also free open source services such as Ubuntu server with 5gb free, Ubuntu desktop business remix, Ubuntu TV, Ubuntu for Android, Ubuntu for phones and Ubuntu for tablet.

So for a free service, will Ubuntu rule the open source market? Well with Google giving so much for free it seems a little far fetched for any other service to catch up.
